Gimme Hairy Lee

You know, one day Mitch and I were sitting outside the gate, eating durian and drinking beer by the roadside and watching the 5 o'clock rush hour and talking about all the cars the passed us by in 2f/sec slow motion.

Both Mitch and I have our backgrounds in the design field, he an urban planner and architect while I, well, I...I..well...I design a lot of stuff, I even designed clothes for MetroJaya when MetroJaya was hip under Pat Liew.

And so we talked about how Protons were designed by committees and suppliers and so can't get their designs together, you know, like how can they put the exhaust tail pipe in the middle on a Satria Neo...these jokers obviously know nuts about design.

And the whole time we were talking I was thinking about how Apple Computer gets all their shits together with the Mac, iPod, and iPhone...Everything, from designs to engineering, from production to marketing strategies.. they got absolutely EVERYthing right.

MetroJaya was hip under Pat Liew because of her vision and leadership (and my designs, of course). After she left and founded British India, MetroJaya was remote-controlled by Singabore and swiftly went down the drain while British India went international.

Like Steve Jobs, Pat was no democrat at work.

Democracy doesn't work in businesses.

In businesses, only dictatorships could produce desirable and (at the same time) democratic products.

Both Pat and Jobs are dictators.

They are dictators that know what the consumers want (in Job's case, even what the people DON'T YET KNOW they want) and they deliver the best by using, and supporting the best talents there is (such as yours truly).

I know I'm putting it too simplistically, but I think that's the core of the matter.

Although I don't believe in dictatorships in governments, I think that's what we need right now.

Ours is not a country in construction; ours is a country in destruction.

We don't need Pak Lah.

We don't need Najib.

We don't need Anwar.

We don't need these liars and gangsters.

We need a Democratic Dictator.

A dictator of the people,

by the people,

and for the people.

Long Live the People.

I think the phrase is "Benign Dictator". :)

You obviously have never been to Apple to understand how things work there. Steve Job is charismatic leader. He is all about selling a vision and getting it done. He makes his case to his people, he does not dictate it. He is willing to fight for his vision and he expect those who oppose it to fight back but he does not change the rules to suit him. He work the rules, push it.

I have met Pat Liew and have heard of her history. Pat clearly is more dictatorial and in some other country she may have been different. But her charisma is limited but her impatient exceeds Steve Jobs. The commonality between them is decisiveness and less blame game and getting things done.
